The winner from 46 years is coming back to Imatra.

Luigi Taveri, the winner of the first World Championship race in Imatra in
1964, is participating in Memories of Imatranajo 2010. The three times world
champion is 80 years old, but he’s still going strong for the sport.

The victory in Imatra in the class 125 cc in 1964 was not a coincidence, as
Luigi Taveri achieved the title of World Champion the same year.  He also
won the World Championship in 1962 and 1966.

You can sense the history by the motorcycle that Luigi Taveri is riding.  It
is a rear  four- cylinder factory-made 1961 Honda.

Only seven riders in the world have achieved World Championship points in
solo classes 50 cc, 125 cc, 250 cc, 350 cc and 500 cc. Luigi Taveri is one
of them.  Finnish Matti Salonen, who will be seen in Memories of Imatranajo
again in his well-known yellow-black colours, is also one of them. The rest
of them are Stuart Graham, Alberto Pagani, Tommy Robb, Dave Simmonds and
Bruno Kneubühler.
